Diwali Legiyam Recipe




Ingredients:

• Ghee
• Gingely Oil
• 1/2 Cup Jaggery
• 1 tsp Cardamom Powder
• Honey.
• 2 tsp Pepper
• 2 1/2 tsp Jeera
• 1/4 Cup Omam
• 10 sticks Kandanthippili
• 2 1/2 tsp Coriander Seeds
• small piece Sukku

Method:
• Smash the pepper, omam, jeera, kandanthippili, coriander seeds, sukku in a mortar and pestle.
• Soak them in water for about an hour.
• Grind them into a fine paste.
• Heat a heavy bottomed wok or vessel. Add 1/2 Cup water and the paste. Mix well and ensure no lumps is formed.
• Stir coninuously. Cook it on a slow flame, till aroma comes. Remove from heat.
• Boil 1/2 Cup of water. Dissolve the jaggery.
• Leave it to a boil and add the paste.
• Keep stirring. Add some ghee and gingelly oil.
• You can notice that the paste no longer stick to the sides of the vessel. Remove from heat.
• Add some honey. Legiyam is ready.
